ALL THE DETAILS

BACKGROUND & HISTORY

The GT3 RS is Porsche's most race-focused street legal variant of the 911.  Sharing much of its equipment and powertrain with the actual GT3 Cup Car of its era, the GT3 RS is the purest form of drivers 911.  Less weight, more power, RWD, N/A, and a chassis engineered for motorsport.  Powered by the famous Mezger-designed naturally aspirated 3.6L flat 6 engine, claimed by many to be Porsche's best 6 cylinder engine ever produced, the 997.1 GT3 RS produces 444hp, powering only the rear wheels.   Only 1,106 997.1 GT3 RS were produced during the 2-year model run, with only 452 produced in North American specification - making this car more one of the rarest 911 variants of the modern era (in comparison, there were over 10,000 991 GT3 RS produced).   One of the last truly analogue 3-pedal supercars of this nature ever made.

This particular GT3 RS is a Canadian market example (one of just 42 allotted for Canada), delivered new from Pfaff Porsche in Toronto back in 2007.  It was first sold to the owner of a real estate brokerage north of Toronto, who traded the car back in to the selling dealership in 2009 with about 3k km.  The 2nd owner, the CFO of an accounting firm in Toronto, purchased the car through Pfaff's Certified Pre Owned program in 2009 and added another ~8k km during his 4 year ownership period.   The 3rd owner, a car collector south of Toronto, purchased the vehicle from Pfaff Porsche in 2012, at which point the car was certified by Porsche once again with extended warranty added.  We acquired the car in spring of 2023 after the third owner traded it towards a new McLaren.

VEHICLE CONDITION

We have fully inspected the vehicle (both cosmetically and mechanically), and performed some light reconditioning to prepare for its next caretaker.  4 brand new Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires have been mounted (in place of the original Pilot Cup tires that were still on the car), all 4 wheels have been professionally refinished by Porsche, along with an oil service, and installation of a new Porsche Classic nav radio.   Our detailers have also performed a gentle paint correction and coating to protect this cars (seemingly original) finish.  Our findings are as follows:

EXTERIOR: The exterior of the car is in largely original condition.  Paint readings are absolutely consistent across the entire vehicle, and consistent with factory thickness.  The hood shows evidence of repaint (slight texture variation), the rest of the vehicle shows as original.  There are minor stone chips on the front fascia and rear quarters, consistent with a car of this mileage.  The front lip/chin spoiler is scuffed from driveway entry.  The wheels are freshly refinished and flawless - factory colour of wheels would be orange.  There are 3-4 scuffs/scratches on the body, pictured in the gallery below.

INTERIOR: The interior of the car is in nearly-new condition.  Minor seat bolster wear is present on the drivers seat, and the carbon trim covering the cup holder mechanism is starting to lift (fairly common on any 997 model).  The dash, gauges, steering wheel, shift knob, carpeting, headliner, and glass are all in new condition, consistent with a low mileage vehicle.   The only interior modifications include a Porsche Tequipment roll bar, and a Porsche Classic nav system installed by us.

MECHANICAL: The car is mechanically unmodified and in excellent condition. The underside is clean with signs of mild weather summer use only.  The clutch feels great and engages perfectly, shifting is smooth and very precise, suspension feels tight.  Our technician notes normal sweating from rear main seal area and around oil scavenger pump - no further action recommended.   The DME report is excellent, showing no over-rev's logged beyond range 2.

SUMMARY AND CONTENTS

All things considered, this is an excellent example of a rare and desirable 997.1 GT3 RS.  These cars represent the last of an era for Porsche, in a time that enthusiasm took precedent over collectibility and whatever the next cool PTS colour on instagram might be.  This car is a very tight driver, with the right options, a great paper trail, and should present minimal cost of ownership for the next caretaker.
